KOMPONG THOM PROVINCE

Kompong Thom is a province of Cambodia. It borders the provinces of Siem Reap to the northwest, Preah Vihear province to the north, Stung Treng province to the northeast, Kratie province to the east, Kompong Cham, Kompong Chhnang to the south, and the Tonle Sap to the west.

The provincial capital is Kampong Thom City, a town of approximately 30,000 people on the banks of the Stung Sen River.

Kampong Thom is Cambodia's second largest province by area. There are a number of significant Angkorian sites in the area, including Prasat Sambor Prei Kuk and Prasat Andet temples. As one of the nine provinces bordering Tonle Sap Lake, Kampong Thom is part of the Tonlé Sap Biosphere Reserve.

Geography:
Two of the three core areas in Tonlé Sap Biosphere Reserve are located in Kampong Thom. Boeng Chhmar (14,560 hectares), and Stung Saen (6,355 hectares).

Climate:
- Cool season: November- March (20-28c)
- Hot season: March- May (30c -35c)
- Rainy season: May - October (23-30c, with humidity up to 90%.) At this time of year it rarely rains in the morning

13,814 km2

Population:
The population 708,398 (2009) with density of the province is 51 persons/km²

Economy:
Kompong Thom Province is rich in tourism potential, attracting tourists with its exotic lakes, rivers, forests, mountains and more than 200 ancient temples. Much of Kampong Thom is located on the floodplain of the Tonlé Sap lake. In 2003–04, it was a significant producer of wild fish (18,800 tons) and the fourth largest producer of fish through aquaculture in Cambodia (1,800 tons). Most of the fish-raising is done by home production, with a growing segment devoted to rice field aquaculture.
Kompong Thom is also one of the largest producers of cashew nuts in Cambodia, with 6,371 hectares under production in 2003–2004.

KANDAL PROVINCE

Kandal Province
Kandal (ខេត្តកណ្តាល) is one of Cambodia provinces located in the southeast portion of the country. It borders the provinces of Prey Veng and Takeo to the west, Kampong Cham to the north, Prey Veng to the east, and shares an international border with Vietnam to the south. Its capital and largest city is Ta Khmao, which is 20km south of Phnom Penh. Kandal is one of the more wealthier provinces in the country.



Geography:
Kandal Province completely surrounds the capital Phnom Penh. The province is also a part of the greater Phnom Penh Metropolitan Area with more than a million people living in and around the province. While traveling out of Phnom Penh, the boundary between the two provinces is nearly unrecognizable.
The province consists of the typical plain wet area, covering rice fields and other agricultural plantations. The average altitude of the province is no more than 10 meters above sea level. The province also features two of the biggest rivers in the country, the Bassac and Mekong Rivers.

Climate:
The province has a warm and humid tropical climate. The monsoon season normally begins in May and runs through October, while the rest of the year is the dry season. The warmest period of the year
occurs between March and May, while the coolest period is from November through March.

Area:
3,658 km²

Population:
The current population in this province is about 1,280,781 people or 9% of the country’s total population (14,363,519 person in Cambodia, 2007, provincial government data), with 621,948 male and 658,833 female. The population density is therefore 359 people per square kilometer.

Economy:
Kandal Province serves as an economic belt of the capital Phnom Penh. Farming and fishing are the two main industries of the province. Major products include palm oil, peanuts, rice, and pepper. In addition to farming and fishing, the province also supports thriving cottage industries that specialize in wood carving, silk, and handicrafts. Many garment factories are located in Kandal Province, which hires more than 500,000 workers.

It borders the provinces of Kampong Chhnang to the west, Kampong Thom and Kratié to the north, Prey Veng and Kandal to the south, and shares an international border with Vietnam to the east. Its capital and largest city is Kampong Cham.

The average temperature is around 27 degrees Celsius; minimum temperature is about 16 degrees. December and January are the coolest months during the year.

SIHANOUKVILLE PROVINCE

Sihanoukville province a small southern province of Cambodia. The non-official name of Sihanoukville province is Kompong Som. Sihanoukville was found in 1964 to be the only deep-water port in whole Cambodia. It is the wonderful place for nation tourism and international tourism all around the world. The province now is increasing the investment inside and outside the country such attractive resorts, hotels, restaurants, and entertainment places.

Geography
Sihanoukville province is a very small province with 868 square kilometres surface. It's located in the very South of the country and is bordering to the North with Koh Kong, to the East with Kampot and to the West and South with the beautiful Gulf of Thailand.

Most parts of the province belong to the peninsula showing a hilly face with some scattered forested areas. Most parts of the province consist of the typical plain wet area for Cambodia, covering rice fields and other agricultural plantations. The northeast of the province end on the hill foods of the Bokor National Park, a relatively big mountain range, which in the end symbolize the southern end of the mighty Cardamom Mountains. The average altitude of the province is supposedly not higher than 40m above see level.

SIEM REAP PROVINCE

Siem Reap is the famous historical province located in the north-west Cambodia. A lot of great and long time temples make this province well-knows all the over the world especially Angkor Wat temple. The south of the province is near to Tonlesap lack, the greatest sweet water and lot of source fishes water reserve in whole Cambodia country. Sieam Reap province named is refer the meaning of the Siamese Defeated, the victory of the Khmer Empire over the army of the Thai kingdom in the 17th century. 

Geography
Siem Reap province is 10,299 square kilometers big and definitely one the most famous ones in Cambodia. It's located in the Northwest of the country bordering the North with Oddor Meanchey, to the East with Preah Vihear and Kampong Thom, to the West with Banteay Meanchey and to the South with the biggest sweet water reserve in Cambodia, the huge Tonle Sap Lake. The province in general, especially in the Southern part consists of the typical plain wet area for Cambodia, covering lots of rice fields and other agricultural plantations. The northern part is turning into an undulating area covered with some deeper, green forests. A quite distinguished mark of Siem Reap Province is the smaller, but important Siem Reap River. It rises from Phnom Kulen, meanders through the northern part of Siem Reap Province and eventually into the Tonle Sap Lake.

PHNOM PENH CITY

Phnom Penh is the capital and largest city of Cambodia. It is a center of security, politics, economics, cultural heritage, and diplomacy. The capital city still retains a lot of ts considerable charm with plenty to see. It exudes a sort of provincial charm and tranquility with French colonial mansions and tree-lined boulevards amidst monumental Angkorian architecture. There are many interesting tourist spots in the capital including historical tourist, sigh-seeing tourist, nature tourist, and eco-tourist such as Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda, the National Museum, Wat Phnom, Riverside with charming park, Independence Monument, Choeung Ek Memorial (the Killing Field), Toul Sleng Genocide Museum. Geography
Phnom Penh is located in the south-central region of Cambodia, at the confluence of the Tonlé Sap, Mekong, and Bassac rivers. These rivers provide potential freshwater and river ecosystems as important resources for sustainable environment conditions, nature's beauty and a prosperous culture for the people of Phnom Penh City from the past to the present.

Phnom Penh lies in front of the Mekong River, which is the main river in Asia with a length of 4,200km (2610 miles). The original source of the river is from the highlands of Tibet China. The river crosses Cambodia from North to South with a total length of 486km (302 miles) and passes Phnom Penh as an intersection of the river to create attractive freshwater and ecosystems for the city.

The climate is hot year-round with only minor variations. City temperatures range from 18° to 38 °C (64° to 100 °F). There are two seasons:
  • Dry season lasts from December to May (6 months periods)
  • Rainy season lasts from June to November (6 months periods)
